If you are looking for a natural wonder in Maharashtra, India, you should not miss Kalu Waterfall Trek. The Kalu waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Malshej region, plunging from a height of about 1200 feet in five stages.
You can’t see all five stages at the same time. Divers are the only ones who can see all five stages of the Kalu Waterfall. Arun Sawant led a group from Camp Fire India that climbed the Kalu Waterfall Trek for the first time in 1993. Someone who was the first to climb every mountain in the Sahyadri range.

There are two main ways to reach Kalu Waterfall:
By Bus
You can take a bus from Kalyan Station to Khubi Phata. From Khubi Phata, you can take a shared taxi or rickshaw to Khireshwar village. From Khireshwar village, you can trek to the waterfall. The fare for a shared taxi is around ₹100 per person. The journey from Khubi Phata to Khireshwar village takes about 20 minutes.
By private vehicle:
You can drive from Mumbai or Pune to Khubi Phata. The drive from Mumbai takes about 4 hours. The drive from Pune takes about 3 hours. From Khubi Phata, you can take a shared taxi or rickshaw to Khireshwar village same as before. From Khireshwar village, you can trek to the waterfall. It takes almost two hours to finish the roughly 4-kilometer hike.
There are two main routes to reach Kalu Waterfall:
Khireshwar Village: This is the most popular and easiest route, perfect for beginners.
Thitabi Village Jungle Trail: This route offers a more adventurous experience and leads directly to the base of the waterfall.

Ans: Unfortunately No toilet or changing room is available in the jungle. But you can change your dress at the local person’s house in the base village.

There is no designated parking area for the Kalu Waterfall Trek. However, you can park your car along the road near Khireshwar Village.

The Khireshwar village route (4-5km) is the easiest and most popular, with a scenic viewpoint at the top.
While not mandatory for the Khireshwar village route, a guide is recommended for first-time visitors, especially during monsoons. They can ensure your safety and provide local knowledge. A guide is necessary for the Thitabi village jungle trail.
