About Deisha Viewpoint

While not the highest Koh Tao Viewpoints, Deisha Viewpoint provides a distinctive vantage point over Chalok Baan Kao and Chalok Bay, as well as a view towards Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. Deisha Viewpoint is one of the less well-known and frequently frequented views on Koh Tao, despite its breathtaking outlook, making it a pleasant place to unwind for a bit. Every day at noon, the bar is open. You can stroll through the bush for around 50 meters or enjoy the view from the expansive balcony area. There’s a big granite rock here that you can sit on and enjoy the view from. 

Access

You must take the turn off the main road between Mae Haad and Chalok Baan Kao, which is marked for Sai Nuan Beach, in order to go to Deisha Viewpoint and Viewpoint Bar. Although steep, the road is in decent condition. To get to Deisha View, you’ll have to veer to the left on one of the sharper turns near the top. The turning point is marked by some enormous signs for the bar. Since the dirt route can be rutted and difficult to navigate, and since you’ll need to climb some stairs to get to the bar and viewpoint anyhow, you can park your rental scooter there and walk.

Bar and Restaurant at Deisha Viewpoint Koh Tao

After reaching the viewpoint signage, ditch your scooter and embark on a scenic climb. 125 stairs lead you to Deisha Bar, your reward for the effort. But the climb is just the beginning!

Deisha Bar offers a culinary adventure alongside the stunning panorama. Their menu boasts a wide variety of food and drinks available all day, fueling you for relaxation or exploration.

Top Terrace

You can go past the restaurant to the viewpoint itself, or you can lounge on the comfortable bean bags and hammocks on the roof terrace while admiring the scenery.

The real viewing spot, a big level boulder, is located through the jungle approximately 50 yards past the restaurant.

Although it’s little, the vista makes the effort worthwhile. Being one of Koh Tao’s less well-known overlooks, it is seldom crowded and provides a tranquil setting for taking pictures or unwinding for a bit.

This location offers a really special perspective over Chalok Baan Kao, with the hamlet, the bay, and even Koh Phangan and Koh Samui visible in the distance.

You may see one of Koh Tao’s breathtaking sunsets from this spot without having to deal with the throngs of people that you would normally encounter at Sairee Beach.

Best appreciated at sunset, Deisha View provides a more intimate way to take in the horizon than sunsets at any of the Sairee Beach bars or the busier Koh Tao overlooks.

How to get to Deisha Viewpoint on Koh Tao

There are no commercial airports in Koh Tao itself, so the nearest airport you’ll be flying into is Koh Samui Airport (USM).

From there, you have a few options to get to Deisha Viewpoint:

• • Ferry: Take a ferry from Koh Samui to Mae Haad Pier on Koh Tao.  Ferries run regularly and the journey takes about 30-45 minutes. From Mae Haad Pier, you can then take a taxi, motorbike taxi, or Songthaew (shared taxi) to Deisha Viewpoint.  This is the most common way to get to Koh Tao.
  • Private Transfer: You can also book a private transfer from Koh Samui Airport to your hotel at Koh Tao. This is a more convenient option, but it will be more expensive.

Once you’re on Koh Tao, here’s how to get to Deisha Viewpoint:

• • Scooter Rental:  The most popular way to get around Koh Tao is by renting a scooter.  Scooter rentals are widely available throughout the island, and they are a relatively inexpensive way to get around.  Deisha Viewpoint is located on the southwest coast of Koh Tao,  a few kilometers from Chalok Baan Kao village.  You can find Deisha Viewpoint by following the signs for Sai Nuan Beach.  The road up to Deisha Viewpoint is steep and can be challenging for inexperienced scooter riders, so be sure to take your time and ride cautiously.  There is a short walk up some stairs to reach the viewpoint itself. Renting a scooter will typically cost around 250-400 baht per day (around $7-11 USD).
  • Taxi or Motorbike Taxi: You can also take a taxi or motorbike taxi to Deisha Viewpoint. This is a more expensive option than renting a scooter, but it may be a good option if you are not comfortable riding a scooter.  The cost of a taxi or motorbike taxi will depend on the distance from your starting point to Deisha Viewpoint.
  • Songthaew: You may also be able to catch a songthaew (shared taxi) to Deisha Viewpoint. Songthaews are a good option if you are on a budget, but they can be slow and crowded.  You can usually hail a songthaew down on the side of the road.
